Greek mythology half man half goat

The Satyr is a type of forest creature from Greek mythology. The Satyrs are half human and half goat, having the head, horns, and hindquarters of a goat. It was said that they went about on all fours or up on their back legs as a goat does with his front hooves. They were also said to have had large, erect penises.

The Satyrs lived in the mountains ,forests, and glens of Greece. They spent their time chasing nymphs, drinking wine, dancing wildly around trees with big horns, and creating mischief.

When they hunted for food they would use slings to hurl stones at small animals or shoot arrows. Some say that the Satyrs were the sons of Zeus and a wood nymph, others suggested that they may have been children of Hermes.

The great city of Heraklion or Hercules was settled thousands of years ago by the Minoans who built a huge palace near the present day center of the city.

The Mythical creature, the Minotaur, half man and half goat was confined in a labyrinth under this palace. The myth of the Minotaur is an authentic tale about a creature that was born from King Minos’ wife Pasiphae and a bull.

She fell in love with this animal which resulted in her having intercourse with it and giving birth to the monstrous creature, the Minotaur.
